This circa 1780 linen handkerchief is a woven check pattern of blue, brown and cream, similar to numerous other examples in the Old Sturbridge Village collection. According to a note associated with this handkerchief, it was woven by Mary Patton in Candia, New Hampshire and bears the cross stitched initials “M.P.” in one corner.
